denver botanic gardens volunteer Volunteers are essential to our mission of connecting people with plants. Each year more than 1,100 volunteers donate their time to help in virtually every area of the Gardens, and our gardens at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield and Mount Goliath.

Volunteers provide diverse expertise and experience to our programs, gardens, research efforts, customer experiences and special events. In turn, volunteers work alongside expert staff and have many opportunities for learning and gaining experience.

Volunteering opportunities:

How To Become a Denver Botanic Gardens Volunteer:
1. You must be at least 16 years old.
2. Fill out a volunteer form. To receive an informational packet and volunteer application, please e-mail us at vol@botanicgardens.org with your name, address and phone number.
3. Once your application is received, you will be contacted to schedule an initial interview with a placement coordinator.

Children's Secret Path at York Street

Especially for kids: Get your hands dirty in the soil station!

It's a fact: The alligator drum and giant amadinda are musical instruments made from plants.

Botanical interest: Children are encouraged to interact with plants, including smelling fragrant chives (Allium schoenoprasum), touching lamb’s ear (Stachys byzantina) and soft artemisia (Artemisia schmidtiana ‘Silver Mound’).
