The 2008 Bonfils-Stanton speakers include a wide range of Garden Personalities, each of whom has made their own mark in the Garden. Don't miss the innovators in world-class garden design, art and horticulture at the region's premier horticultural series.

The Explorer in the Garden: Topher Delaney
Topher Delaney is an environmental and landscape artist who grew up among artists, spending time as a child in Isamu Noguchi's studio. She is the founder of SEAM Studio in San Francisco, and her work has encompassed a wide breadth of international projects, receiving numerous awards and honors.
Digging in the Garden as Metaphor

The Builders in the Garden: Scott Calhoun and Judith Phillips
Scott is a self-described desert plant fiend and an inspired garden designer. He is the author of "Yard Full of Sun," which won the 2006 American Horticultural Society Book Award.
Judith, a landscape designer and a teacher in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of New Mexico, is a prolific author. She has produced five best-selling books on the use of native plants in the landscape, including "Southwestern Landscaping with Native Plants."

The Maverick in the Garden: Dean Cardasis
Dean Cardasis is a fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and Director of Landscape Architecture Graduate Programs at Rutgers University. He is also a co-founder and director of The James Rose Center for Landscape Architectural Research and Design in Ridgewood, N.J., for which he won the ASLA's Classic Award and Centennial Medallion in 1999.

The Neighbor in the Garden: Gordon Hayward
with Gordon Hayward, nationally recognized garden designer, writer for Horticulture Magazine and contributing editor at Fine Gardening Magazine. He is the author of nine books on garden design, including "The Intimate Garden," "The Welcoming Garden," and "Your House, Your Garden," for which he won the 2004 American Horticultural Society Book Award.

The Connoisseurs in the Garden: Scott Ogden and Lauren Springer-Ogden
Scott Ogden and Lauren Springer-Ogden are horticultural consultants and garden designers whose work includes both public and private garden spaces across the country. They have introduced several dozen plants to the nursery trade and are each the author of three books, including Lauren's "The Undaunted Garden," named one of the best 100 gardening books of the 20th century.

It's a fact: The alligator drum and giant amadinda are musical instruments made from plants.

Botanical interest: Children are encouraged to interact with plants, including smelling fragrant chives (Allium schoenoprasum), touching lamb’s ear (Stachys byzantina) and soft artemisia (Artemisia schmidtiana ‘Silver Mound’).
